Thousands Respond to 54-Day Novena for Nation

On this Feast of the Assumption, thousands of people are responding to the request from the Holy League and Cardinal Raymond Burke to begin praying the 54 Day Novena for our Nation today through October 7, the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary https://www.novenaforournation.com/. This is also an appropriate response in lieu of the Black Mass to be held in Oklahoma City today where Satanist will perform a blasphemous ritual called the “Consumption of Mary.”

In his official statement regarding the Novena, Cardinal Burke wrote, “There is no doubt that our beloved nation is in one of the worst crises which it has ever experienced, a profound moral crisis which generates division on all levels and results in an ever-greater more pervasive violence and killing. For Roman Catholics, who have always been known for their faith-filled patriotism, the first response to this crisis is fervent prayer and, in particular, prayer through the intercession of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, Mary Immaculate who is also the patroness of our nation.”

St. MaximilianYesterday was the Feast of St. Maximilian Kolbe, a great saint for Mary and martyr in the Nazi concentration camp, who, after two weeks of being left to die by starvation, was executed with a lethal injection of carbolic acid on the eve of the Feast of the Assumption.

In the years leading up to his death, St Maximilian had worked ceaselessly to promote devotion to the Blessed Virgin, having founded the Militia Immaculata (The Militia of the Immaculata or the Army of the Immaculate One) in October 1917, shortly after the miracle of the sun at Fatima. The aims of the organization were to encourage a total consecration to the Blessed Virgin Mary as a means of personal spiritual renewal, and also to bring about a renewal of society. His idea was that by this consecration the individual becomes a willing disciple of Christ and an instrument that Our Lady can use to bring about the transformation of the world.

St. Maximilian placed a great emphasis on the Miraculous Medal, or to give it its proper name, the Medal of the Immaculate Conception. Apart from the total consecration, and the Miraculous Medal, St. Maximilian also promoted the Rosary, and prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. He compared the spiritual battle with evil to a real battle with guns and ammunition, and said that just as in a real life war, so, too, we need a battle plan for the spiritual battle. He summed up his approach with three words – prayer, penance and love – and in many respects this plan echoes the way the Little Shepherds of Fatima lived once they had experienced God’s love through the light from the hands of Our Lady.

Prayer is obviously very important in practical terms, because without God we can do nothing, and without praying for grace, light and strength, we will accomplish very little. And for St. Maximilian the most effective prayer was that which is offered through the Immaculate hands and Heart of Mary, who he saw as our advocate and mediatrix before God.

Since Our Lady came to Fatima and not only called herself the Lady of the Rosary, but also asked during each of her six apparitions that the Rosary be prayed to bring about peace, then clearly, there is no better way of achieving prayerful union with the Blessed Virgin than by means of the Rosary.

In a world which is becoming increasingly unstable and has strayed far from God and Our Lady, the situation is serious. But just as she promised that in the end her Immaculate Heart would triumph and a period of peace would be given to the world, so St. Maximilian was able to say:  “Especially in these last days… God will raise up persons who through their special devotion towards the most Blessed Virgin will sanctify themselves and will not only oppose God’s sworn enemies, but will sweep away from the face of the earth heresy, idolatry, impiety; they will build up the temple of the true God and will inspire all with genuine devotion to Our Lady…”

Please join in the Rosary for our nation.  Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us. St. Maximilian Kolbe, pray for us.
