There are no coincidences in heaven

I am writing this message from Pontevedra, Spain, where we are tending to some business after driving up from Madrid last evening. The morning started with a visit to the Chapel of the Apparitions, where Our Lady gave to Sister Lucia the devotion of the First Saturdays in 1925. It dawned on me then that this was her name’s day, the feast of St. Lucy.

The noon Mass at the Basilica of St. Francis brought it all together. Gazing up at the statue of St. Francis looking down at us from above the altar, I saw in him the image of my dear friend, Father Andrew Apostoli, who passed away one year ago today. How appropriate to be in the presence of these two people, Sister Lucia and Father Andrew, so special to our apostolate.

No coincidence whatsoever.

I have asked for heavenly help in the business that brings us here, and for help in carrying out the work of the apostolate overall. There are no two better advocates for these petitions.

Sister Lucia, guide us in carrying out the mission of delivering the Fatima message as Our Lady wants of us. We pray for your elevation at the altar to join Saints Francisco and Jacinta.

Father Andrew, continue to direct our apostolate as you did for so many years. May the Lord give you His peace.

God bless you and your families during this season of waiting and wonder. We appreciate your prayers in the work of the apostolate.
