Halfway through this Extraordinary Marian Jubilee Year and the 2026 shrine season I am overwhelmed when I think of the incredible gift that we have received in the Church overall and especially at this sanctuary. Being designated as a place of pilgrimage during this special time we take seriously the trust that the Church has placed in us. The World Apostolate of Fatima Our Lady’s Blue Army is a Public Association of the Faithful, entrusted with being the official voice for the Church on the message of Fatima.

Canonization of Bartolo Longo – A Saint for those Afflicted by the Occult
Saint Bartolo Longo, (1841–1926), the great Rosary advocate, was canonized by Pope Leo XIV today, Sunday, October 19, in St. Peter’s Square at the Vatican.
Our Lady at Fatima described herself as the Lady of the Rosary, and certainly Bartolo can be described as a great 19th century “Herald of the Rosary,” and one who was responsible for the growth and flourishing of the Rosary Shrine at Pompeii, Italy.
The Luminous Mysteries as Mysteries of Change
The Luminous Mysteries, which are usually associated with the theme of “Light” can also be seen as mysteries of “Change.”
These mysteries were introduced by Pope St. John Paul II on Oct. 16, 2002, and are made up of five meditations on key events during the public ministry of Jesus Christ. The Pope proposed these “Mysteries of Light” as an addition to the traditional Rosary to make it a more complete “compendium of the Gospel.”

There is much news today that point to the rumblings of war. Pope Francis noted two years ago that we are living through a “third World War,” one that is being fought piecemeal, referring to the Russian/Ukraine conflict. Since Oct. 7, 2023 – the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary – we have watched the destruction unfold in the Israel/Gaza conflict, and the ideological divide unfold in this country, threatening civil peace here. The upcoming election looms large, and both sides of the political spectrum threaten that the other side will destroy democracy in this country. Anxiety levels are at an all-time high.
