Mother’s Day is about gratitude

Mother’s Day is a special day; a day when we show appreciation for the one who is the anchor of the family. I have never liked when people refer to this day, and even Father’s Day, as greeting card holidays. Certainly there is commercial activity around these commemorations, but the basis of remembering our mothers on this day is gratitude. Mothers are happy when we are happy and they hurt when we hurt. A mother’s love is incomprehensible. Our Lady shared the pain of her Divine Son’s passion before experiencing the joy of her glorification.

Little SistersToday I spoke on Fatima to the residents at St. Mary’s Home of the Little Sisters of the Poor. Before this a turkey dinner was served. This is a tradition of the Sisters, to serve a Thanksgiving Day dinner on this day to show gratitude for the motherhood of many of the residents.

On behalf of the trustees, benefactors, members, employees and volunteers of the World Apostolate of Fatima, I wish the best to all mothers on this day.

God bless
